U.S. SENATE, U.S. REPRESENTATIVE, GOVERNOR

Republican: 1,955 (1% of the vote for the 2010 republican gubernatorial candidate: 195,406)

Democratic: 1,221 (1% of the vote for the 2010 democratic gubernatorial candidate: 122,037)

Independent: 3,171* (1% of the total vote for governor in 2010: 317,083)

Newly Recognized Political Party: 250

 *The Independent signature requirement would also apply to independent candidates for Gubernatorial and Statewide Offices.

7,928 (2.5% of total vote for governor in 2010: 317,083) 

STATE LEGISLATORS

New Political Party:  Five signatures. 

2014 Legislative Signature Requirements by District - numbers based on previous districts

COUNTY OFFICIALS & PARTY DELEGATES (filed with county auditor)

Republican, Democrat:  50 signatures or 1% of the vote for their party's gubernatorial candidate in the county or commissioner district in the 2010 election, whichever is less.

Independent:  Signatures equal to 1% of the total vote for governor in 2010 in their district.

Newly Recognized Political Party:  Five signatures.  

SPECIAL DISTRICTS

Heartland Consumer Power District Director:  50

Conservation District Supervisor:  25

Water Development District Director:  25 

All petition signers must be active registered voters in the jurisdiction for which the candidate is seeking office. 

DEADLINE FOR FILING

March 25, 2014 for primary election cadidates

April 29, 2014 for independent candidates for all offices other than President.

INITIATIVE PETITIONS

15,855 (5% of 2010 vote for governor 317,083) Signatures must be filed by Nov 4, 2013.

REFERENDUM PETITIONS

15,855 (5% of 2010 vote for governor 317,083). File within 90 days after adjournment of legislature at which the law was passed.
