Overseas citizen voters may submit absentee-ballot applications electronically. For federal elections, an eligible UOCAVA voter may receive the ballot electronically.
Submit a voter registration form to your county election official. A voter with a current, valid South Dakota driver's license or nondriver ID may use the UOCAVA electronic portal.

Open the portalTo receive a federal-election ballot electronically, indicate the email preference on the Federal Post Card Application or contact the county election official. Otherwise, the ballot will be mailed.
The completed absentee ballot must be received at the polling location before the polls close. A ballot delivered after the polls close cannot be opened or counted.
An overseas citizen outside the United States on Election Day may use the Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot after first requesting an absentee ballot from the county election official with a South Dakota application or Federal Post Card Application.
