U.S. REPRESENTATIVE, GOVERNOR

Republican: 1900 (1% of the vote for the 2002 republican gubernatorial candidate – 189,920)

Democratic: 1403 (1% of the vote for the 2002 democratic gubernatorial candidate – 140,263)

Libertarian:  20 (1% of the vote for the 2002 libertarian gubernatorial candidate – 1,983)

Constitution:  250

Independent: 3346 * (1% of the total vote for governor in 2002 – 334,559)

New Political Party: 250

*The Independent signature requirement would also apply to independent candidates for constitutional offices and public utilities commissioner.  Independent candidates for Governor must file a certification of their Lt. Governor candidate prior to petition circulation.

8364 (2.5% of total vote for governor in 2002 – 334,559)

STATE LEGISLATORS

Republican, Democrat or Libertarian:

50 signatures or 1% of the vote for their party's gubernatorial candidate in their legislative district in the 2002 election, whichever is less.

Independent:

Signatures equal to 1% of the total vote for governor in 2002 in their legislative district.

DEADLINE FOR FILING

April 4, 2006 for primary election

June 6, 2006 for independent candidates in general election

All petition signers must be active registered voters in the jurisdiction which the candidate is seeking office.

INITIATIVE PETITIONS

16,728 signatures collected within one year following filing of the full text with the Secretary of State (5% of 2002 vote for governor). Signatures must be filed by May 2, 2006.

REFERENDUM PETITIONS

16,728 signatures (5% of 2002 vote for governor). File within 90 days after adjournment of legislature at which the law was passed.

INITIATED CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT

33,456 signatures (10% of 2002 vote for governor). Signatures must be filed by November 7, 2005.
