When is the office of the Secretary of State open to the public?
The Secretary of State's office is open to the public Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CST. National holidays and administrative holidays, declared by the Governor, are recognized by the Secretary. Please feel free to contact staff either by phone, email or a personal visit during business hours.

Does the office of the Secretary of State regulate elections and voter registration in South Dakota?
The Secretary of State's office does not regulate elections and voter registration. SOS staff work closely with election officials to provide assistance to county, school, and city administrators.
Does the office of the Secretary of State have the authority to investigate corporate and business operations?
The Secretary of State's office does not have the authority to investigate any complaints or provide legal assistance regarding corporations or businesses. Questions or concerns must be submitted to legal counsel for official opinion.
