Recognition States are those that recognize the permits of another state without a formal agreement. Both states do not have to recognize each other’s permits. South Dakota is a Recognition State. According to SDCL 23-7-7.4, the State of South Dakota recognizes any valid concealed pistol permit issued to a nonresident of South Dakota according to the terms of its issuance in the state of its issue.
